State of the Action: In a strange turn of events, one Section rules the top three slots in the vault, and for once, it isn't Section 9. It's Albany-based Section 2, with three athletes at 15-1 or better. Matti Levasalmi (Bethlehem) has jumped 15-7 at Millrose unattached, with plenty of company from Carter Petersen (Fonda-Fultonville) at 15-6 and Neil Howard (Taconic Hills) at 15-1 for the more local competitions. They join Nicholas Lourenco (Saint Anthony's) who's also cleared 15-1 just last weekend, as well as Kegan Mancabelli (Orchard Park) at 15-0. Mancabelli may not be in attendance at States, however, as he recently told his local paper that he may opt for the Basketball Sectional finals in Buffalo, as he's a dual-sport athlete. | |||||
