The Great New York State Meet Preview - Indoors 2022

Boys 3200m

Event Info: 2020 Winner: Behailu Bekele-Arcuri (Warwick) 9:13.20, State Record: 8:50.40 (2-Mile), Meet Record (2000s): 9:03.81

State of the Action: Nine athletes come into the meet at 9:21 or better. Consider this the race of the meet. Myles Hogan (Fordham Prep) leads the field, becoming the first athlete under 9mins in the true 3200m in nearly six years, when he ran 8:54.95 at the CHSAA Champs. It's a target, and well under the Meet Record, but don't expect the field to just give away the title. Three of the four XC State Champs are entered as Class A XC Champ Jack Gregorski (Corning) leads the chasing seeds at 9:11.18, with Gitch Hayes (LaSalle) and Colton Kempney (Beaver River) ever improving at 9:18. Ryan Hagan (Liverpool) is dropping time quickly as well, with his 9:11.37 solo performance in Section 3 makes him a threat as well. Gavin Ehlers (Westhampton Beach) was runner-up in XC Class B, and has a 9:15 converted mark entering into the race, alongside State Meet runners-up Adam Furman (Tri-Valley) and Michael Hawkes (Xavier).

This race is loaded, and will hopefully see that Meet Record finally dip under 9mins.
