Event Info: 2020 Winner: Sierra Dinneen (Notre Dame Academy) 2:51.39, State Record: 2:35.80, Meet Record: 2:45.83

State of the Action: This is another race that's near impossible to predict. Two athletes from two sides of the sport are coming to meet in the middle. Angelina Napoleon (Allegany-Limestone) is coming from the higher end of the sport, as she is the reigning Class C XC State Champ, and carries a best of 2:53.35, running uncontested. Interestingly enough, and one of the odder doubles we've seen, Napoleon is also one of the top seeds in the High Jump. On the other side of the coin is Hannah Boyle (Cicero-North Syracuse), who is a converted 400m runner who was busy on the field hockey field while Napoleon was running XC. She's clocked a 2:53.68 this season, also uncontested. Boyle's been on a parity level at the shorter distances with her teammate (who's running the 1500m here), and her teammate just ran well under 2:50. Will a similar jump occur here, or the will actual high jumper make the leap?
Not to be forgotten are Daphne Banino (Ursuline) and Zariel Macchia (Floyd), both Foot Locker finalists. Banino has run 2:54.52, and has plenty of potential to upset the top seeds, and Macchia has the ability to risk a breakout race, with three more years of competition possibilities ahead of her. On top of that, you have Sierra Doody (Webster Schroeder) looking to add some unknowns to the field, among others.
