State of the Action: Five girls over 12-ft in the field, with two of them having PR's at 13-0 or better. Gone are the days of old where Pole Vault was a runaway hit. Get this, three of the past twelve State titles were won at 11-9 or lower. In 2022, that will likely not make the podium. At the top of the standings is Ella Dolce (Central Square), who had her first 13-ft clearance at the State Qualifier. It was a major milestone, but she's been consistent over the 12-0 bar all season, varying heights in between. On the other end is Laura Reigle (Hilton), who's cleared 13-0 Indoors last year, as well as 13-1 Outdoors in 2021. It's been a slow build in 2022, leading up to a very close clearance of 12-9.5 at Millrose, but the consistency of her jumps may be the winning factor. Right now, it's a toss up, and if either girl can match her Personal Best, it will probably be the road to victory. | |||||
