NYT&F Battle of the Years - Top 15 Showdown 2008-2015

. . . . . . Group 8: Distance

At the end of the day,the distance runners are plugging away on just a sense of smell after the sun goes down and in the darkness with no lights with maybe a few guys banging some garbage can lids to guide them around the track, and they're searching for that little opening that will lead to a victory and a visit with the winged goddess of both wisdom and victory

So who rises up to take the titles for the boys and the girls?

Down by 4 points going into the final session, the 2015 guys pull off a big-time reversal with a 2nd in the 1600m and then an obliterating 1st in the 3200m (kudos to sub-9 Mike, Jeremy, Aidan, John, and Conor, plus Ben, Marco, Bryce, Noah, Joseph), to score 18 of 20 points and capture 1st by a biggish 7 points. 2010 has an off performance and falls back to 2nd, with the 2012 squad close behind in 3rd. The 2014 team proves that the recent times aren't so bad as they finish in a solid 4th place.

In the end there is no doubt, as the 2010 girls pile it on with two more 2nds to finish up at 133 with a 15 point gap over the 2nd place 2015 team. But after four years of a downward period for NY girls track, the 2015 squad showed it had the stuff to compete with the best.

.

The 2010 teams finished 1st on the girls side and 2nd on the boys', and it was switched over for the 2015 teams with the guys in 1st and the girls in 2nd. In the end the larger margin for the girls 2010 squad is the decider. The performances on all sides were memorable and mind-boggling, and cheers to all.
