NYT&F Battle of the Years - Top 15 Showdown 2008-2015

. . . . . . Group 3: Horizontal Jumps

The LJ and TJ athletes take one giant leap for mankind, womankind, and their squads

The long jumpers and triple jumpers leap into the action just as 2015 has made a move to the front and tries to break away from the pack of pursuers. But 2010 has a triple threat ready to unleash, and the 2014 squad has no plans to go away just yet.

No boys' squad really dominated in the horizontals, but 2014 picked up two 2nds and 16 points for the best showing overall. 2011 went long in the LJ and 2010 picked up yet another 1st in the TJ. The 2014 guys took over the lead off of a 1st and three 2nds in the first six events, while the 2015 guys fell back to 4th.

The 2015 girls are still flying high as they picked up a 3rd in the LJ and 2nd in the TJ to stay out in front with a 7 point lead. Both 2009 and 2010 pick up a 1st however, and they remain within decent striking range.

.

The battle on the combined front has turned into a three-way contest as 2015 holds on to a 3 point lead over the 2014 tracksters and 4 point gap over 2010. And if you've noticed the very poor showing of the 2008 squad, it's not much of a spoiler alert to say it will stay that way. Only about 3/4 of their athletes showed up in the data banks it now appears, so it's almost as if one of the buses broke down carrying them to the meet. But with athletes like Kyle Merber, Pat DuPont, and Sheepshead Bay 4x100m team that took 1st at Nationals for the guys, and a girls squad that included national champs Shelby Greany and Nadonnia Rodriques, Madalayne Smith, Emily Lipari, Kristen Reese, Phyllis Francis and Samantha Francis at the top of its leader board, there was still a helluva lot of talent there even if its data banks weren't as deep.
