NXN-NY / NE Previews And Projections Highlight Strong Races

NXN-NY Boys Individuals

Breakdown: In two consecutive weeks, Sam Lawler has gotten better and better.  After winning the merge at States, he improved his Speed Rating at Feds, a clear lead over the field.  However, that field didn't include the next three athletes in the seeds.  Colton Kempney was just 3-seconds off Lawler's mark, taking second in the Class D race.  Josh Stone was just 5-seconds off Lawler, taking second in the Class B race.  And then you have Behailu Bekele-Arcuri, who won the Class A race in the coldest conditions of the day.  All four make up a strong front pack, all of which capable of the win.

Manlius has a solid trio in that same pack, although they were ten seconds off Lawler in the merge at States.  If their team does not qualify, look for the three runners, Peyton Geehrer, Sam Otis, and Geoff Howles to bring some disruption to that Top 4.  Their Top 2 have both hit 189 this season.

If Manlius does make it as a team, it's an all out sprint for the final 5th position, and the door is wide open for someone to have a big race.
