Summary: S5-A is often hard to project. Sometimes the team with the best numbers win Sectionals, and sometimes the top A team at Monroe County wins Sectionals, but often the unexpected happens. Last year there were no surprises as Fairport dominated Monroe and then slogged to a fairly easy win at Sectionals. This year the situation is a bit fuzzy. Fairport again has the best season's TR but still finished 4th at Monroe due to its wide compression, which is an ominous sign for them since a Brighton team with insanely tight compression finished 3rd with a much worse TR. The best bet here seems to be either Churchville-Chili or Irondequoit who both have pretty similar numbers and makeup, and although Monroe's results don't always portend who will win Sectionals, we'll go with CC because of its slightly higher speed rating and better compression. Sean Henretta was 2nd at last year's race and will be the favorite in 2018.

Summary:
Though last year's individual champ Nathan Lawler is gone, his brother Sam and the Pittsford Mendon team look well set to pick up a seventh straight Sectional win. The Viking were 6th and Honeoye Falls-Lima were 7th at Monroe County, but Mendon had a comfortable margin over its S5-B rival.

Summary: Marcus Whitman won S5-C last year while Addison won S5-D, but this year it looks like the reigning S5-C champs have the edge. A lot of guys are in contention for the individual honors, and Eron Schultze is the top returning runner with a 4th place in 2017.

Summary: Last
year's S5-D champ Addison moved back up to Class C, and last year's runner-up Oakfield-Alabama looks ready to step up for the crown. Jacob Appleton was the 2017 S5-D champ, but Gavin Bathgate will be the favorite after finishing 1st at Wayne-Finger Lakes.
