State of the Action: This is one of the deepest fields in history, with 11 girls seeded under 10mins, and more plenty to follow at the State Meet. But despite that depth, Karrie Baloga (Cornwall) stands tall in the field, recently improving her NY #5 All-Time mark to 9:23.80 at the qualifier. The only four names ahead of her include NCAA Champs, Pro Athletes, and a World Champion, and it's plenty good company to be in. Plus, this would be her third State Title in the event in as many attempts. Only Covid prevented four straight. In a respectable field behind Baloga, the PSAL makes a surprising rise, as Ella Cohen (Hunter College Campus) has the next best seed at 9:55.
