State of the Action: Katelyn Tuohy ran a relaxed 3000m at the Qualifier, but still won with a 9:50. She's run 9:30 already this Season, and would be the favorite here again, currently the Meet Record holder. Behind her, there is a close pack of runners in the mid-9:40's. NY #2 is Claire Walters (FM), who has the earliest seed in the field, running 9:38 off XC fitness on the 21st of December. In a mirror image, the next fastest athlete is Karrie Baloga (Cornwall), who took off directly after Foot Locker, and didn't enter a meet until the last weekend in January. Her best of 9:44.11 is an exact match to the mark she ran to get 4th at this race last year. Sarah Connelly (Mt. Sinai) took 3rd last year, and is the best returner outside Tuohy, but carries a seed of 10-flat this year. Expect that to jump down like it did last year. | |||||
