Last Year's Summary: 3rd in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
After a 3rd place finish at Sectionals last year, Shen has lost two of the top three runners with the graduation of Liam Hickey and TJ Michalek. But frontrunner Alex Hislop and the most of the rest of the varsity are back on team that may have the best depth in S2-A. Top-30 Sectional finishers Odin Schaepkens, Bryan Spence, and Gregory Langone join Hislop in the Plainsmen's top group, and if the TRs can all be moved up a bit, Shen could be winning its first S2-A title in four years.

Last Year's Summary: 7th in States-A, 1st in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Clarence won its first Sectionals title in four years in 2017 and then went on to finish 7th at States. Now with their to five runners back for 2018, the Red Devils are looking to move up, and the top duo of Grey Conover and Dan Daddario will be hoping to pull the rest of the pack up in the face of a likely challenge from Frontier in S6-A.

Last Year's Summary: 13th in NXN-NY, 7th in Federation, 2nd in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Bees had some nice upward movement in 2017 finishing 2nd behind Fayetteville-Manlius and going to Federations for a 7th place finish. Now with all but Ben Timmons back from the Sectionals' top 5 finishers, Baldwinsville looks to build around four top 20 guys from S3-A that include States finalists Joe Licamelli, Garrett Vannatta, and Adam Davis along with Adam Davis. Holding off a resurgent Liverpool for 2nd will be no easy task though.
Frontier | Falcons | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Peter Quinlan (1977, A-9th), Jim Kruszka (1983, A-6th), Nick Larosa (1991, A-6th) (1993, A-1st), Mike Deren (2004, AA-5th)
Last Year's Summary: 2nd in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
After a 2-point loss to Clarence in the S6-A meet last year, the Falcons are set for another showdown this year. States finalists Joshua Peron and Joey Groth return with five of last year's top 6, so with a little more depth, Frontier may be strong enough to retake the title it won in 2016. Clarence also returns most of its runners, however, so the verdict could again come down to who has the best guy at the fifth spot.

Last Year's Summary: 6th in Federation, 8th in States A, 1st in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Arlington captured its fourth straight S1-A title in 2017 and then finished 8th in the States mud before running better with a 6th at Federations. The top four from the Sectionals 8 are back for 2018, and the rest are graduated. Colin Waters, Tyler Locke, Daniel Caso, and Mark Scanlon should be plenty strong enough to get the Admirals a 5th straight S1-A title, and if some recruits can fill out the back of line more deeply, Arlington could get back into the top 5 at States.
