Section | Top Teams | Notes |
1 | Pearl River, Brewster, John Jay-Cross River, Nanuet, Rye, Tappan Zee
| Pearl River goes for a third straight Sectional title and has the best depth, but Brewster and JJ-CR are within stalking range.
2 | Burnt Hills, Scotia-Glenville, CBA-Albany, Mohonasen
| Defending Class B champ Burnt Hills will get a challenge at States, but not so much in S2-B.
3 | Jamesville-Dewitt
| In an S3-B that was wiped out by senioritis, it's hard to find a challenger for reigning champ JD.
4 | Maine-Endwell, Vestal, Windsor, Owego, Johnson City
| We'll throw all five names into the S4-B hat after every team lost almost everybody or a lot, but ME's top 2 are sophomores with more upside.
5 | Pittsford Mendon, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Pittsford Sutherland
| PM has much of the squad back, and HFL lost its top 2.
6 | East Aurora, Pioneer, Lewiston-Porter, West Seneca East, Amherst
| Wait and see, as EA has everyone back and reigning S6-B champ Pioneer returns 4 of 5. Likely the best Class B Sectional showdown.
7 | Beekmantown
| Beekmantown moves back up in Class B in Section 7's hosting year for States.
8 | Manhasset, North Shore, Seaford
| Manhasset lost its top 4 and has issues at top, but it's the team in S8-B that usually fills out a squad, though Seaford has its top 3 back.
9 | Mount Academy, Goshen, New Paltz, Red Hook
| With Cornwall moving on to Class A, two fairly intact squads rated in the state's top 8 vie with Mount the favorite over Gishen.
10 | Malone
| Malone (Franklin Academy) is the only S10-B squad.
11 | Westhampton Beach, Miller Place, Sayville
| S11-B should be one of the best Sectional battles with the win going to whichever of the three teams can fill out their lineups.
