This Year's Outlook
Dobbs Ferry has been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years since winning its only Sectionals title in 1978. After finishing 2nd to Pleasantville by 10 points in the S1-C last  year, the Eagles may finally be ready to return to States with an intact varsity lineup that features a good balance of veterans and young guys. Seniors Jed Katzenstein and Cole Ginghina form the top duo for Dobbs while a younger group keeps developing, and the Eagles will be preparing for the inevitable late-season charge by Pleasantville for the S1-C crown.

This Year's Outlook
The Senecas have lost much of the depth that characterized the team two years ago when it was state champion, but it should still be the top team in S4-C. States medalist Gabe Planty returns as a junior to lead a Watkins Glen team that is in need of a big recruitment campaign.

This Year's Outlook
Westhill leaps back down into S3-C after winning last year's B title. Section 3 is very competitive and Hannibal will be the favorite after Westhill lost three members of last year's States team. Seniors Brendan Rewakowski and Dan Washburn and junior Jacob Fricano return to try to lead the Warriors to States again.

This Year's Outlook
It is a fool's errand to look for anything to say about Pleasantville in the preseason other than that the Panthers will step to the line at Sectionals expecting to win. Many puzzling things  will happen in 2018 before the Panthers arrive at Sectionals, but juniors Aidan Lynch and Drew Dipietro are expected to lead the attack this year. Pleasantville, Dobbs Ferry, and Irvington should be in the usual scrap in S3-C, and if Bronxville can fill out a team, the battle at Sectionals should be very interesting.

NewfanePanthers

Section: 6Class: CColors: Royal blue and white

XC History
States Teams: 1972 (C-8th), 2017 (C-3rd)

This Year's Outlook
The Panthers won their first Sectionals title in 45 years in 2017 and took 3rd at States, but after losing its top two of Samuel Auernhamer and Collin McCabe to graduation, Newfane will be in a close contest with Falconer for the S6-C title. Junior Alan Lingle and freshman Austin Burkard return to lead a Panther squad that will need to get pumped up with new recruits.
