This Year's Outlook
The Cardinals won their 12th Sectional title in 13 years in 2017, and they also moved up one place at States from the year before as Renee Riegel and Marissa Silba earned top 20 medals. Both runners are back on a solid but senior-heavy squad, so though Newark Valley should again win in S4-C, this is a good time to add some more youth to the lineup.

Saranac's Rachel Woodruff sprinted in 14th in the States C race to lead her team to a 7th place finish.

This Year's Outlook
The Chiefs finished 7th at States for the second year in a row, and frontrunner Rachel Woodruff earned a medal with a 14th place finish. Peru is now down in Class C with Saranac Lake to provide a challenge to Saranac for the S7-C title, but with States 32nd place finisher Elise Lepage and five other members from last year's varsity joining Woodruff for 2018, the Chiefs will be the favorites for another title.

This Year's Outlook
Canton finished 4th at States and then lost two members off the varsity for 2018, including longtime frontrunner Grace Bessette. Arianna Whittaker, Claira Royce, and Hannah Tupper are back from top-40 places at States, but the Bears will need some reinforcements to remain in the top 5 at States.

This Year's Outlook
Greenville finished well back in 3rd in the S2-C last year, but the Spartans have everyone back, and this year they hope to have lead runner Tess Fitzmaurice available for Sectionals. The big issue for Greenville is that Greenwich is moving up to Class C, but the Spartans should be the second best team in S2-C..

This Year's Outlook
Peru had no real competition last year in S7-B on their way to a 10th place finish at States. This year after dropping down to compete in S7-C, the Indians will face a stiffer contest while being wedged in between Saranac and Saranac Lake in the ratings. Last year's leader at Sectionals Lia Clemons is gone, but sophomore Harley Gainer and a group of other largely interchangeable runners are back for the action in Class C.
