This Year's Outlook
Brewster fell back a place at Sectionals last year, but the top 6 are back for the Bears' campaign in a very tough S1-B. Junior Elsa Neubauer returns after a top 10 finish at Sectionals, and Brewster may have just enough depth to make a move up this year.

Jamesville-DewittRed Rams

Section: 3Class: BColors: Red and white

Jamesville-Dewitt freshman Madeline Foss earned a 16th place medal at States for the 8th place Red Rams.

This Year's Outlook
The Red Rams captured their second Sectional title in three years in 2017 and return their top 5 runners. But that may not be enough to take another championship with CBA-Syracuse moved up to class B after winning last year's state championship for Class C. Still, JE has a strong top two of States medalist Madeline Foss and 21st place finisher Sophia Vinciguerra, and maybe the Rams could narrow the gap on an also slim CBA squad with a little more filling out of the ranks at the back.

South SideCyclones

Section: 8Class: BColors: Red and blue

South Sides' Carly Woelfel is chased by Mt. Sinai's Noreen Guilfoyle as the Cyclone sophomore and her team both finished 9th in the States B race.
XC History
States Teams: 2000 (B-9th), 2002 (B-10th), 2017 (B-9th)

Avery Brull10911h in Section 8 Class Champ9070

This Year's Outlook
The Cyclones went to States for the first time in 15 years in 2017, and this year they start the season so slim that we cannot fill out the lineup with five names. But no matter, because Carly Woelfel is back after finishing 9th at States, Kaitlyn Mohr, Olivia Duca, and Avery Brull all finished in the top 25 of the S8-B, and teams on a roll like this always usually seem to pull in a few runners to nail down the spots that can earn a repeat trip to States.

CamdenBlue Devils

Section: 3Class: BColors: Royal blue and white

Camden 8th grader Elizabeth Lucason took a 19th place States medal last year as one of two Blue Devil runners there along with her sister Morgan.

This Year's Outlook
The Blue Devils are another of the teams that has big strength at the top but not enough to fill out a 5-runner lineup going into the XC season. Last year Camden was well ahead in the scoring at Sectionals for the first four runners but still ended up finishing in 3rd, 49 points behind Jamesville-Dewitt in S3-B. Freshman Elizabeth Lucason returns as Camden's top runner after a medal at States last year, but the Blue Devils simply need more runners to join Morgan Lucason, Haley Hinds, and Catherine Seidl to fill out the top 5.

North ShoreVikings

Section: 11Class: BColors: Maroon and white

North Shore's Sophie Rosencrans charged in 34th last year in the States B race.

This Year's Outlook
The Vikings finished well behind South Side in S8-B last year and now have Manhasset again to contend with in 2018, but they also may have a little more depth than those teams with all the varsity returning. Sophie Rosencrans and Nicole Schneider return as finalists at States last year, and with a little movement up behind them, North Shore may have enough to get back to States for the first time in three years.

This Year's Outlook
Manhasset is back down in Class B, and it tumbles into a close three-way race in S8-B. States finalist Angeline Caamano is back as a sophomore to lead the way for the Indians, and if the lineup can be pumped up a bit, the team could take its second Sectionals win in three years.
