| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
JJ-CR was back at the top at States for a second title in three years as the Indians navigated the mud better than the other teams and placed four runners in the top 20. Now the team seems set with States 4th place finisher Pippa Nuttall back for her senior year on a veteran squad that includes Kelsey and Cameron Crawford, Lauren Pollack, and junior Morgan Johnson, who jumped her rating by 40 TR points last year. A steady season's development for postseason success, which also includes a Federation title in 2014, has been the hallmark for John Jay, and this year the Indians seem to have both the top-level talent and depth to withstand the inevitable challenges that always face a Class B champ.

Last Year's Summary: 6th in Federation, 2nd in Sectionals B
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pearl River had a bunch of successes last year with wins at Manhattan and Rockland County and a strong 6th at Federations, but finding a way around John Jay at Sectionals has proved a problem for the Pirates in recent years. Senior Mary Borkoski is back to lead the 2nd-rated Class B team in the state, and she has a strong young group behind her including Niamh and Ciara Durcan and Una Boylan, so with some strong development the Pirates will be looking to close the gap at Sectionals.
CBA-Syracuse | Brothers
Section: 3 | Class: B | Colors: Purple and gold
CBA-Syracuse's Olivia Morganti plowed home 3rd at States last year as one of three Brothers in the Class C race's top 10 when they won their first title in school history.

Last Year's Summary: 17th in Federation, 1st in States C, 1st in Sectionals C
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
CBA filled out a 2016 States team with the addition of Olivia Morganti last year and rode a lineup with just five scoring members to the Brothers' first state title in Class C. States 3rd place finisher Morganti is back with the rest of the crew including 6th place finisher Cory Knox and 7th place finisher Deja Jones, but now CBA has been sent up to Class B and a much tougher States field. The Brothers will be the favorite in S3-B, but the team could use a little more depth because trying to run the tables with five runners again is risky.

| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Blue Devils entered the state championship last year as the co-favorites with John Jay, but had a little more difficulty in the mud and finished 2nd. After the loss of senior top finisher Molly McLaughlin from last year's team, EA starts the year with a mix of youth and veteran experience led by Molly's freshman sister Megan, who will be among the favorites for an individual championship at States after a 7th place finish last year. The Blue Devils are known for their strong development program, and with S6-B top 10 finishers Emily Jason and Karis Ertel running near the top, EA should take another Sectionals win and again be in the hunt for a ninth States title.

This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cornwall took its fourth straight top 5 finish at States last year after winning its 17th straight Sectional title, and this year looks to follow in a familiar pattern. Five of the top 6 are back from last year's varsity including lead runner and States medalist Meredith Hickman, who is back for her senior season. The Dragons have a strong cast with three other top 10 runners returning from last year's S9-B top 10, including Claire Kelly, Molly Cameron, and Gia Flores.
