Boys Cross Country Record Individual Bests in Loss to Walt Whitman

The West Islip boys cross country team matched up against Walt Whitman High School in a 5K race on a breezy Tuesday evening at Sunken Meadow State Park, and while the Lions failed to win, their performance left head coach Chris Kaigh very pleased.

Weekend Preview

Because of the Jewish Holiday Yom Kippur many meets have been moved back to either Thursday or Friday.  Last weekend was an exciting one with Fayetteville Manlius opening up.  This weekend will see North Rockland and Warwick Valley open their seasons.

The Queensbury Invitational is being held on Saturday and the meet is very good early season indicator.  Watching the Class A rivalry of Burnt Hills and Queensbury is always fascinating and this will give us a better idea of where Queensbury stands right now.

The VVS Invitational should be NY's biggest meet with over 60 schools spread over 4 varsity races.  VVS is the site of the NYS XC Championships in 2011.

The Warwick Valley boys will make history this weekend as they become the first NY boys team to run at the famed Dettweiller Park.  St. John's Villa girls of Staten Island raced there 7 years ago.   US#4 York, Ill. will be on hand as well as 8 of the top 10 Illinois teams.  MEET HOMEPAGE

Stayed tuned all weekend long as ArmoryTrack.com brings you in depth coverage of high school cross country.
