NYT&F Battle of the Years - Leaders Showdown 2008-2015 Indoors

. . . . . . Group 6: Vertical Jumps
So is there any chance of doubling up in the high jump and pole vault? Well no, as one event requires the athlete to have super-compression  springs in the calf muscles, and the other needs beefy shoulder pads, and those two parts of the body don't have much in common. And for the guys, getting to the top is a long process almost always culminating in the senior year, and there are 16 different winners among the boys in the two events over the 8 Leaders years. The girls are very different, as five athletes started getting to the top even in their freshman year to extend their leadership roles for two or three years. Shayla Broughton has run her HJ reign to three years already and is looking for a 4th top mark this year, and Sarah Palmer and Joanne Imbert took turns at winning in earlier years. Adrienne LaChance and Kari Stromhaug both had two years at the top in the PV.

The 2015 team stays solid with both Hasani Rathan in the high jump and Derek Dibona in the pole vault contributing 3rds, and the team's lead grows to 13 over a 2014 team that got a 2nd from Todd Uckermark in the PV. 2011 got a 1st from Jordan Yamoah's incredible 17-1 in the PV and a 3rd from Alexander Bowen in the HJ to move into 3rd. The top guys in the HJ go back to the early years, as Thomas Bell got a 1st for the 2009 team and Andy Kahl was right behind in 2nd for the 2008 group.

The 2010 and 2013 squads are jockeying for the lead back and forth, with 2011 still hanging close to the top. 2010 briefly grabs the lead after Joanne Imbert scales 5-9.25 to capture the high jump title, but Jen Thill gives the 2013 team a thrill with a 2nd in the pole vault to put her squad back in the lead. The big winner in the verticals is 2011 though, as Imbert and Sarah Palmer combine for a 2nd in the HJ and Megan Clark wins the PV, giving the squad an 18 point boost into 3rd place..

The 2015 squad has seen their lead sliced by 2 points down to 13, but with only the shot put and the relays to go, they're still sitting pretty comfortably at the top. 2011 and 2013 are fighting tooth, nail and knuckle for the 2nd spot.
