NYT&F Battle of the Years - Leaders Showdown 2008-2015 Indoors

. . . . . . Group 8: Relays

Year after year, the same names keep repeating for relay titles. Medgar Evers tops the list with 8 appearances in the Leaders contest, 6 on the girls' side and 2 on the boys' side. Benjamin Cardozo is close behind with 7 spots in the girls charts. The Newburgh guys get 4 bests, and the two-time winners include the Garden City and Fayetteville-Manlius girls, the Fordham Prep guys, and a double from the St. Anthony's guys and girls.

Newburgh's 1st in the 4x200m clinched the boys' title for the 2015 guys, and they rolled on to a 17 point win over the 2014 team that finished strongly with a 1st from Chaminade in the 4x800m. 2011 rode home to a 3rd place finish on the strength of a 3rd place by Medgar Evers in the 4x200m. Boys and Girls took a 1st in the 4x400m for the 2012 team, and pulled in for the 4th place. The 2010 guys barely held off the 2008 team for the 7th spot, which was unexpected considering the explosive performance of the 2010 team in the BotY Outdoors meets.

The battle was down to the wire, with the 2010 girls repeating their BotY outdoors win, but this time by only 1 point over the 2013 team, as 2011 was two steps further back in 3rd. 2013 briefly took the lead with Medgar Evers' top mark in the 4x200m, but Benjamin Cardozo's 3rd in the 4x400m put 2010 back on top to stay. Fayetteville-Manlius's 2010 4x800m squad stayed close enough to Garden City's 2013 team to earn the final 1-point margin for the championship.  2011 earned the close 3rd place with a spectacular 26 points in the relays fueled by Medgar Evers' 1st in the 4x400m and 2nd in the 4x200m and St. Anthony's 2nd in the 4x800m. 2015 picked up 15 points in the relays to finish 4th, 2009 took 5th, and Fayetteville-Manlius's 1st in the 4x800m helped 2012 get 6th. As on the boys' side, 2008 finished 8th by 1 point.

The 2015 team's lead narrowed to 15 points in the end over 2011, but it was still a pretty comfortable triumph to go with the dominating win for the Boys' crown. 2013 was all alone in 3rd.
