The New York State T&F Championships lead the way in this weekend's highlight section. The last state meet of the year kicked off Friday with some excellent results. In the girls 400m hurdles, Dalilah Muhammad (Benjamin Cardoza, NY) bested Elizabeth Mott (New Rochelle, NY) over the final hurdle to beat Mott with a new U.S. #1 time of 57.81. Mott's time of 58.01 earned her the U.S. #2 spot. More results and highlights inside and coming throughout the weekend.

Muhammad, Mott run US#1 & 2

BUFFALO – She came off the turn with such a lead that people standing by the finished gasped, most not even knowing who she was.

Well, for those who didn’t know, here’s introducing Williamsville East eighth-grader, Kala Allen.

Allen won the Division I 400 meters at the New York State championships in 55.61, claiming the race from the slower-seeded heat with a nearly two-second personal best.

McGovern just misses state PV record

BUFFALO – The way Pat DuPont torn down the back straight it looked like the Fairport senior must have forgot how many laps were left. This was a full gallop – a challenge to the field to match him at their own peril.

“I knew that if I could make (the pace) hurt myself then I could make it hurt everyone else,” DuPont said.

Sheepshead takes 4x1 in 41.39

BUFFALO – Terrance Livingston slowed just as he crossed the finish line without even the slightest hint of fatigue on his face. The Great Neck South junior scanned the crowd and tapped his wrist.

He wanted to draw attention to the time. It was an inside joke between Livingston and his coach Damon Reader.

“It meant, C’mon Coach, that time is wack,” Livingston said.
