Burnt Hills Finds Footing At Baldwinsville Invite, Derfel Returns To The Front

Girls Recap

Individuals:  Right from the gun, Justus Holden-Betts (Baldwinsville) got out strong.  Despite the heat, her pace stayed steady throughout.  At the half, Molly Fitzgibbons (Oswego) came to her shoulder, but Betts responded with a strong surge.  She crossed the line in 18:01.6, ten seconds slower than the year before, but exactly the same speed rating given the heat.

Team: The home team managed to hold off a strong closing Ithaca team by 14 points.  Led by Betts, Baldwinsville had a compression 10-seconds larger than Ithaca, but it was mostly caused by the frontrunning leader.  Ithaca's top girl in Lizzy Rayle finished second, putting the score nearly even.  However, Bville's fifth girl managed to finish just ahead two from Ithaca, securing the win.
