Each year, the State's best meet up at Ocean Breeze to determine the fastest and furthest individuals in New York. The top two athletes at the State Qualifier automatically earn their spot, while the third place finisher earns a spot if they have hit a specific qualifying time. Those are typically based on a five year average of podium finishers.

New this year, the State Committee has added Championship Divisions for small schools in the relays, as those are considered 'team events,' akin to the classifications in both Cross Country and Outdoor Track. Those separate qualifying times are listed below.
