This Year's Outlook
Last year Monroe-Woodbury had the excitement of hosting the States meet and seeing senior frontrunner Kathryn Munks earn a spot at Foot Locker Nationals. Despite the graduation of Munks and Jessica Cueva-Scarpelli from the varsity, the Crusaders should again have a squad challenging among the top 5 teams in the state as junior Julia Hoyt picks up the lead runner role and Kiersten Kral and Sarah Kern join in for the attempt to hold off Warwick Valley for the S9-A championship.

This Year's Outlook
Shen had a highlight McQuaid meet when it won the big AAA race, but some injuries set the Plainsmen back a bit as the season progressed, and now with frontrunner Danielle Jordan and a big chunk of the varsity gone, prospects are seemingly not quite as bright as they have been the last two years. Still senior States runner Julia Zachgo is back to lead a rising group of juniors including Charlotte Hartman, Olivia Lomascolo, Elise Maddalone, and a restored Hannah Reale who is coming off a great track season. It could be a rebuilding year for a prime maturity year in 2017, but Shen should generate a lot of excitement this year.

This Year's Outlook
Webster Thomas will be looking for its fourth straight S5-A title and will be the favorite again with all of the top runners back except for Ellie Songer. Amanda Vestri will be back to lead the team in her senior year and she will be looking to get back to the form that allowed her to become a States medalist in her sophomore year of 2014. This is a big year for the Titans since 6 of the top 7 returners are seniors including second runner Claire Ashton, so Webster may need to dig deep to hold off Rush-Henirietta in S5-A.

Section: 2Class: AColors: Garnet and gold

This Year's Outlook
The Raiders will be missing three members from last year's varsity that finished 3rd in S2-A. States finalist and frontrunner Kathryn Tenney will be back to lead the team in only her sophomore season, but Colonie will need to develop some more for the top 5 behind Amanda Chambers and Marilyn O'Brien to stay near the top in the always tough S2-A.

SuffernMounties

Section: 1Class: AColors: Blue and white
Suffern's Mary Hennelly had a stellar 8th-grade year that included a 4th-place finish here at Federation and a trip to NXN Nationals.

This Year's Outlook
After two years of leading the pack in S1-A, Suffern fell to 2nd behind a newly resurgent North Rockland team. Mary Hennelly however had a spectacular 8th grade season that carried her all the way to a 39th place finish at NXN Nationals and made her seem like the second coming of Shelby Greany for the Mounties. Suffern looks to be running second again to the Red Raiders even with Hennelly and senior Rachel Ludwikowski leading the team in 2016. Of course a possible wrinkle in the smooth projections for S1-A centers on what is in store for senior Kamryn McIntosh after injuries robbed her of her junior XC season and limited her track action, but all will be revealed.
