Section | Top Teams | Notes | 1 | North Rockland, Suffern, Arlington, Ursuline, Mamaroneck, Lakeland-Panas, Carmel | North
Rockland established itself at the top of S1-A last year on the way to
NXN and has most of the troops back this year, so the Red Raiders should
stay well ahead of Suffern even if the Mounties get some
reinforcements..
| 2 | Saratoga, Guilderland, Shenendehowa,Colonie, Niskayuna, Queensbury, Shaker, Bethlehem | Almost
certainly the best state section in the nation, S2-A will again feature
a couple of teams with some NXN aspirations including as usual a
Saratoga squad that is always at Portland and rated among the top 5
teams in the country with the top 7 back from last year's 4th place NXN
finish in 2015.. Guilderland, Shenendehowa, and Colonie are also rated
in the NY-A top 10.
| 3 | Fayetteville-Manlius, Cicero-North Syracuse, Baldwinsville, West Genesee, Liverpool | FM
as usual will be way ahead in S3-A as the reigning champs are rated
tops in the nation, but there will be a lively battle for the 2nd spot
as CNS, Bville, West Genny should all be at around the same level after
the dust (and new runners) shakes out. | 4 | Corning, Elmira District, Ithaca, Horseheads | Corning
will enter the season with decent sized TR gap over reigning section
champ Elmira and Ithaca, but a chunk of that is due to having Jessica
Lawson at the top, and in reality the race for the S4-A crown should
much closer.
| 5 | Webster Thomas, Rush-Henrietta, Churchville-Chili, Fairport, Penfield, Hilton, Webster Schroeder, Spencerport, Irondequoit | Reigning
S5-A champ Webster Thomas goes for its 4th straight title, but rising
Rush-Henrietta with world beater Sammy Watson and Churchville-Chili are
running close enough behind for the breathing to be heard loud and
clear.
| 6 | Clarence, Williamsville North, West Seneca, West, Hamburg, Lockport, Kenmore West, Frontier, Orchard Park | Reigning
S6-A champ Clarence will be favored over 2014 champ Williamsville North
and Class B emigre West Seneca West, but this race is close, and the
addition of one key new runner could hugely change the equilibrium.
| 7 | No representatives |
| 8 | Syosset, Port Washington, Massapequa, Mepham, Calhoun
| Reigning
S8-A champ Syosset is pretty well stocked with almost everyone back
from last year, but Port Washington has its top 5 back and stayed
decently close in sectionals last year. | 9 | Monroe-Woodbury, Warwick Valley, Valley Central, Kingston, Pine Bush | The
battles between reigning champ Monoe-Woodbury and Warwick Valley have
been going back and forth over the years in S9-A, and though the
Crusaders are favored again, the Wildcats should make it close,
especially now that they will have another runner with the name of
Reilly in their top 3.. | 10 | No representatives |
| 11 | Sachem East, Ward Melville, Bay Shore, Sachem North, plus Smithtown, Northport, Eastport-South Manor
| A
number of S11-A teams lost three of their top six runners to
graduation, and no team was hit harder than reigning champ Sachem East.
Still the Flaming Arrows should start the season a little ahead of Ward
Melville, Bay Shore, and Sachem North. |
