Senior Angelina Perez has been on a tear this season, and after a dominating month in the Garden State, she's ready to take on the Northeast. She's the heavy favorite after her #2 All-Time at Holmdel Park, but she' shouldn't be crowned just yet. Ellie Shea, an private school runner from MA, might just be ready to take the upset. Shea is ready to run anytime she toe's the line, demonstrated by her PR's of 4:43 for the mile, and 9:30 for the 3000m. Those credentials can't be overlooked, and neither can her recent success at the Mayor's Cup in Boston, where she ran 17:12. That was over a month ago, so with a few more weeks of training under her belt, this could be quick up front.
The next batch of runners is a showdown between the Tri-State, as Karrie Baloga is the NY Fed Champ, Mulhern (albeit unattached) has the highest Speed Rating from a PA'er, and Lily Shapiro has been having a stellar season, even if not up to the Perez standards.
Behind them, the gates swing wide open, and there is very little wiggle room at the back end of the Top 10 Take-All field.
Note: Two athletes to watch are both club affiliated. Charlotte Bednar and Camryn Wennersten have a single race under their belt, officially, but have proven to be in the Dark Horse category based on past efforts.
