Solid Moments At Sunken Meadow - 2018 NY XC State Meet Recap

Girls Class A Individuals

State of the Action: Katelyn Tuohy was back in action once again, after taking a precautionary break from her Sectional Championship.  She wasn't 100%, favoring one leg over another, but it was enough to put together a convincing run.  Nine seconds off her effort from earlier in the season, which was then noted as a workout, the Junior from North Rockland demonstrated why she has been so dominant over the past two years.  There were plenty of fireworks behind her, as Kelsey Chmiel and Claire Walters did their best to put pressure on the race-day-favorite, never quite giving up the chase.  It resulted in the #2 and #3 All-Time marks in Course History, both ahead of Aisling Cuffe's Foot Locker Northeast mark from 2009.  New York now has the three highest Speed Rated athletes in the country, all from the same race. In fourth, nearly a minute and a half off the win, was Jenna Schulz, who strung together a race that would win a State Title in most other States in the Country.
