New York Names To Know At New Balance Nationals - Full Preview

Girls Sprints

Girls 60m - The top three finishers from the New York State Meet are entered here, highlighted by State Champ Lanae-Tava Thomas (Rush-Henrietta).  Thomas went NY #3 All-Time earlier this year at SPIRE, with her 7.39 winning performance.  Iantha Wright (Jamaica) and Jenna Crean (Orchard Park) took home silver and bronze, and could make the final here too.  Also entered is Toshel Goffe (Paul Robeson), who will look to recover from a rough start at States.

Girls 200m -All four names from above return here in the 200m, and the finishing order should look similar.  We also add in a few names, such as Vanessa Watson (Spencerport) who won the 600m at States, and Brianna Brown (Dewitt Clinton), who could take a shot at the Freshman State Record for 60m at 7.58.

Girls 400m - While she's also in the 200m, the 400m should be where Vanessa Watson (Spencerport) will shine.  She took home the 600m title at States, and returns here as the National Leader in that event.  Also entered is 600m runner-up Paris Peoples (Benjamin Cardozo), who will be looking to reverse the circumstances of the week before.

Girls 60HH - It might be a scheduling issue, but Sophia Myers (Queens HS of Teaching) is entered in the EE Division of hurdles.  She recently went NY #2 All-Time in the 55HH, and could very well challenge the State Record of 8.25 for the 60HH.
