Summary:  Trying to match the the guys Engineers, Aziza Chigatayeva and Brooklyn Tech are trying to pull off a double individual and team championship in a battle that may need a recount. Though BTech like many of the teams ran far behind their standard pace at the Boro championships on the way to a win in the Brooklyn PSAL race, the Engineers' season numbers should put them a little ahead of the other teams in the league if they run true to form on Saturday. Brooklyn Tech was 2nd last year and won the PSAL championship in 2015.

One team that could give the favorites a very strong challenge is the same one that can do so on the boys' side, PSAL Staten Island winner Susan Wagner. The Falcons have a fast-developing team with good depth behind freshman frontrunner Kathryn Altieri, and they actually were the top scoring team in the PSAL Boro merge even though their average time was 9 seconds behind Brooklyn Tech's. Three other teams that will be battling at least for a top 5 place are PSAL Manhattan winner Stuyvesant, and the 2nd and 3rd teams from the PSAL Staten Island race, CSIHS McCown and McKee Tech.

Finally there is the very unusual situation that recently occurred for reigning champ Benjamin Cardozo, which a month ago was expected to breeze to a repeat title. Frontrunner Sophia Muccini has been lost to injury, and on a team that went just 5-deep, that has been a big problem. With no fifth runner able to run under 28 minutes for the 5K, the Judges will likely be leading the team battle through four runners behind Abigail Perez, Shalah Means, Lilianna Cohen, and Tatianna Martinez, and then fall back to around 6th if the final place adds 150 points. Last year Paris Peoples held down the 6th spot and could fill in for the 5th position when necessary, but the senior track star does not appear to have run yet this year.

Aziza Chigatataeva has had a tremendous year and is the clear favorite for the individual title, but Abigail Perez will be in pursuit, and Young Womens Leadership's reigning champ Shayla Sanders should be running near the top if her squad is in the Team race.

The score between the top two teams in the speed ratings based virtual meet are:

1. Brooklyn Tech 88,  2. Susan Wagner 92
