This Year's Outlook
After finishing at least in the top 3 in its last seven States appearance, Burnt Hills finished 4th last year and also lost three-time States medalist Eva Scott to graduation along with a big part of its depth. The question now is whether the Spartans can gather enough runners behind States medalist junior Rory Graham to fend off a trio of teams including Schalmont, Queensbury, and Mohonasen for the S2-B title.

This Year's Outlook
Last year the young Warriors beat out Jamesville-Dewitt by 9 points for the S3-B title, but this year with the top 7 back, Westhill should be a bigger favorite for a repeat Sectional win. Coolican and Kessler are back from top-50 finishes at States, and the rest of the team shows depth and room to grow.

CornwallDragons

Section: 9Class: BColors: Green and white
Cornwall's Sydney Decker shown here running at States beside Goshen's Morgan Serkes and Wayne's Adrianna Behrendt is the top returning Dragon finisher from the meet to lead the quest for a 17th straight Sectional title.

This Year's Outlook
Cornwall is yet another team with a reduced preseason speed rating than last year but which seems far more secure for another sectional win. Last year the Dragons survived an S9-B showdown with Goshen that was tied through the first four places and had a final 6 point margin. This year Cornwall looks very good for its 17th straight Sectionals with Decker, Hickman, Vallet and Scileppi back from top 12 places in last year's race. But three of the top 4 are seniors, so a recruiting campaign may be necessary if the Dragons want to keep flying in the future.

SchalmontSabres

Section: 1Class: BColors: Green and white
Schalmont's Emily Pahl (no. 285) with teammate Kerry Flower hovering right behind were two of the three Sabres running at States along with frontrunner Mya June. Mt. Sinai's Kaitlyn Chandrika and Starpoint's Samantha Henry are at right.

This Year's Outlook

Although Schalmont may have enough to challenge Burnt Hills in S2-A with its top trio of States finalists that include Mya June, Emily Pahl, and Kerry Flower, the back end of the lineup will need a boost even with the top 6 runners back from last year's varsity.

This Year's Outlook
Although Brewster was a ways back last year in the Sectionals meet, the Bears have their top 5 rated runners back, including Kennedy Lamoreaux who missed the postseason meets and had a strong 8th grade track season. Frontrunner Florence Cuomo returns as probably the 7th rated runner in S1-B, and the young Bears could be a big factor in the section this year with a little more growth and depth.
