This Year's Outlook
It was a mixed bag of results last year for a team that was still pretty young, but Tappan Zee moved up to 3rd place in S1-B and both Thomas and Fears finished in the sectional top 10. The Dutchmen are still a ways behind Pearl River and John Jay, but everyone is back and if they can keep the development cycle going strong till season's end and everyone stays healthy, Tappan Zee could challenge for a sectional title.

This Year's Outlook
Queensbury is a storied program that is now in need of a big youth movement on a squad dominated by seniors. Emily Atamanchuk was off to a very strong season last year before it got curtailed by injuries, but her track results show that she is back in great form and ready to again lead the Q-Spartans against their Burnt Hills Spartan cousins now that they are rejoined on the S2-B battlefield.

MohonasenWarriors

Mohonasen's Emma Sinisgalli was in the thick of things at the Suburban Council meet, and she later went on to capture the final at-large S2-B ticket to States.

This Year's Outlook
Mohonasen is a young team that seems to be very much on the rise. The Warriors need to develop and fill out a bit to challenge Burnt Hills, but with States finalist Sinisgalli back to lead the team as a sophomore, things could get very interesting here.

This Year's Outlook
Maddie Hobika and Rebekah Preisser finished 1-2 at Sectionals and medaled at States and reigning S5-B champ Canandaigua has been moved up to Class A. The problem for Sutherland though is that much of the team graduated last year, and a big rebuilding year is needed behind the top 2 to hold off Mendon at Sectionals.

Pittsford Mendon's Elysee Barkstrom at left represented the Vikings at States in her senior year in 2016.

This Year's Outlook
The departure of reigning S5-B champ Canadaigua to Class A opens up the Sectionals battle, and despite having no returning runner rated at 100 TR or higher, Pittsford Mendon may have the depth to be best positioned to capture the title it last won in 2014. Only States finalist Elysee Barkstrom is gone from last year's top 6, and with S5-B top-12 runners Julia Tomanovich and Chloe Erdle on the lead and 2015 standout Ellie Anstrom seemingly recovered from injuries, the Vikings may be the favorite for the Sectional title.
