Section | Top Teams | Notes | 1 | Somers, Pearl River, Tappan Zee, Nanuet, John Jay-Cross River,Brewster, | Last
year Pearl River edged Somers by 1 point at sectionals, and this year
with the two teams rated 3rd and 4th in preseason, the decision could be
even closer. | 2 | Burnt Hills, Glens Falls, Scotia-Glenville, CBA-Albany, Averill Park | Burnt
Hills loses its Spartan twin Queensbury to Class A, and now it is far
ahead in S2-B, though 2015 S2-C champ Glens Falls moves up. | 3 | New Hartford, Westhill-Bishop Ludden, East Syracuse-Minoa | New Hartford has enough runners back to hold on to the S3-B crown. | 4 | Maine-Endwell, Owego, Vestal, Union Endicott | Maine-Endwell
lost its top 3 from last year's 2nd place States team, and though it
should win the S$-B again, Owego will be making up a lot of ground. | 5 | Pittsford Mendon, Brighton, Brockport, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Pittsford Sutherland, Irondequoit. Canandaigua, Newark | In
what is by far the toughest Class B section, three-times reigning state
champs Pittsford Mendon still has the lead over the pursuing pack, but
Brighton and Brockport are now within striking range. | 6 | East Aurora, West Seneca East, Grand Island, Sweet Home, Williamsville South | The
S6-B has been completely transformed by reclassifications of teams, and
now 2015 state C champ East Aurora takes over as the favorite after
being moved up with a much reduced squad in what could be a very tight
contest. | 7 | Peru, Beekmantown | With Beekmantown moving up to B, there could well be a close battle in S7-B this year. | 8 | Manhasset, North Shore, Garden City, Wantagh | Manhasset again has the edge in the preseason, but a younger North Shore squad could make up ground. | 9 | Cornwall, Goshen, Wlakill, Port Jervis, | Cornwall lost all but the top guy from last year's S9-B winner, but the JV squad has plenty of help coming. | 10 | Franklin Academy | FA's the one. | 11 | Southampton, Bayport-Blue Point, East Hampton | Southampton moves up from Class C in the nick of time to bring some grit to a very weak S11-B field this year. |
