Massachusetts had some fantastic performances at the Glenn Loucks Games. Mike Wyman of Old Rochester ran a personal best in the 1 Mile run with a 4:13.95. Wyman finished second place to Christian Alvarado of Connecticut. In the girls mile, Karina Shephard established a personal best running 4:55.49. Abbie McNulty of Bishop Feehan pulled of a solid double. She ran 4:56 for the mile, and also finished 2nd place in the 3200 Meter run in 10:22. The list below has all the performances from the Massachusetts contingent. If we overlooked anybody please email Massrunners@gmail.com.

The Western Albemarle boys continued a great weekend of racing at the Loucks Games in New Yorks by running the state's second fastest in the 4x800 meter relay in a school record and Group AA record time of 7:46.74. Western Albemarle made Blacksburg's 7:49 AA record performance two weeks ago at the MileStat.com Track Classic short lived and it could be a thriller at the Group AA State Meet if both teams load up. Photo by Tim Fulton However, Western could not celebrate a victory along with their fast time as they came up just short once again similar to their 10:01 DMR performance on Thursday with Liverpool as the 4x800 winners at 7:46.50. Western Albemarle's splits went as followed: Kyle Satterwhite 1:57, James Howard-Smith 1:56, Adrian Sitler 2:00, and Tyler Stutzman 1:52. Anchor leg Stutzman was able to enjoy at least one win after two great relay anchors in claiming the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:09.86 and just missing the 20 year old meet record of 4:09.19.
WHITE PLAINS – It’s rare that Terrance Livingston gets excited about a race. It’s rare that the Great Neck South senior does more that talk about how he could have run faster. But there wasn’t much wrong he could find with this 400-meter race. There wasn’t much to nit-pick. But he still found a way to ignore satisfaction and move immediately to what he might run next time.
WHITE PLAINS – Suffern’s Shelby Greany has said for months that she would run her races her way. She wouldn’t wait. She wouldn’t be a reactionary runner.
WHITE PLAINS – They had to know it was coming. Alex Leuchanka said he figured Arlington’s John Muller had to know. They’ve raced each other enough times.
Jen Clayton (Suffern, NY) leaps 20-02.5 to win the long jump in a new meet record, though there was no wind gauge and it was a breezy day. Still the junior bested her career best from indoor 2008.
WHITE PLAINS – When Jen Clayton hit the sand, she couldn’t tell if she popped a good one. But when the Suffern junior looked over to the pit next to her and realized that her jump was about as far as the boys jumping on the parallel runway.
Peabody senior Pierre Carr ran 10.77 and a Pittsburgh city record 21.90 to win the sprints at the District 8 Championships.
One cannot fault Tyler Stutzman (pictured left by Tim Fulton) for Western Albemarle coming up short in defending their title in the distance medley relay at the Loucks Games held in New York. Stutzman was given the baton as the 1600 meter anchor leg for the Warriors with a 25 yard lead on the second place squad from Westerly High School in Rhode Island. The Group AA indoor state 1600 meter indoor champion proceeded to run the next four laps in a split of 4 minutes and seven seconds, but it was not enough to hold off the Nike Indoor Nationals mile champion Andrew Springer, who posted an incredible split of 4:03.6 to catch Stutzman at the very end. Westerly and Springer claimed the win and US #1 time at 10:01.13, while Western Albemarle and Stutzman were second in a US #2 time of 10:01.87. The performance also ranks the Western Albemarle squad as the 12th fastest all-time in US history. It is amazing to think that the Charlottesville area has two of the best DMR's all-time in Virginia high school state history at the same time (with the except of Alan Webb and the South Lakes 9:49.78 national record DMR in 2001) as the Albemarle boys ran a state indoor record and just missed a national record in the DMR with their 10:02.13 victory at Nike Indoor Nationals. More to come from Loucks Games as MileSplit US affiliate, ArmoryTrack.com, is on-site with coverage.
WHITE PLAINS – Tyler Strutzman had to know he was coming. Even if he didn’t, that didn’t’ stop Western Albermarle’s Strutzman from looking to put the race away before anyone got it in their heads that the win might be up for grabs at the Glenn D. Loucks Games at White Plains.
