Familiar faces win Loucks trophies

Jen Clayton (Suffern, NY) leaps 20-02.5 to win the long jump in a new meet record, though there was no wind gauge and it was a breezy day. Still the junior bested her career best from indoor 2008.

Emilija Vaskyte of Valley Stream North did what she has become known for - she used a huge finishing kick to beat her competition.  It was a very deep field as all of the NY girls came together in what was a rematch for many from the indoor national championships and NY State Championships.  With so few race walk events held in the spring, this event has become the unoffical NY State Championships and is a certain preview of the Nike Outdoor Nationals.

Terreance Livingson of Great Neck South, NY won the 800m after upstate star Eric Fontenez of Hilton set the pace through 600m.
Charlene Lipsey did it again - she won with a big kick. The Hempstead senior beat a strong 800m field, holding off the NY State Indoor 1000m champion Emily Menges of Garden City to win in 2:09.
Hempstead had another win on the day as Velma Morant won the 100m dash in 12.25 into a slight headwind.
Jesse Drinks of Ossining won the 100m dash in 10.98 into a very strong 3.3 headwind. Drinks has had a very strong senior year, winning 100m titles at Red Raider, Somers Lions, and now Loucks.
