1. Many people don't know about you since you compete at the Division II level. However, you are one of the best short hurdlers in the nation right now. Do you feel as if you get enough respect around the country?
Respect? I don't get any, but that's about to change before the
season is over and I will earn my respect.
2. You currently hold a season best time of 13.44 in the 110 meter hurdles. How do you feel heading into the Division II Championships in your final collegiate meet?
I feel pretty confident going into the national meet and I'm going
to take the 110 hurdle trials as a final and run my heart out.
3. St. Augustine's has a long and storied tradition as one of the top collegiate programs in the country. How much has head coach George "Pup" Williams had an influence on you and your teammates?
Coach has set a standard for us, which is "you are a student first
and athletic second." That's all the influence me and my teammates
need.
4. What are some of the most important drills and techniques that you have found the most beneficial to your hurdle race?
Some of the more important drill are the one step drill, trail
and lead drills and the trail leg snap down drill.
5. How did it feel to also win the 110 meter hurdles at the Penn Relays and what was your experience like there?
To win Penn Relays was like a dream come true. With my family and
friends there as well, it was even more great for me. I can't even
explain the way I was feeling after I won.
6. Do you have any superstitions or any pre-race rituals that you stick by in order to help perform your best on that day?
No not really, I just stay focus and get the job done.
7. Now that your collegiate career will come to a close, what are your plans for this summer and into 2004?
I plan to continue running for coach and over the summer I want
to over in Europe or somewhere. In 2004, I don't know, I'll see
it when it gets here.
8. At the Division II Indoor Championships, you placed second in the 60 meter hurdles. Although you had an outstanding indoor season, do you still look back upon that race and wish you could have it back?
I wish I could take it back because this time I would get out the
blocks faster and not play catch up.
9. What's the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you on or off the track?
My mea told me always to keep your head on straight, cherish God
and always seek an understanding of life and God. One should also
have pride in your being, values and always decide for yourself
if something is right or wrong.
10. What do you enjoy the most about the campus and atmosphere
at St. Augustine's College?
I would say just being around my friends.
11. The United States is the deepest country in the world when it comes to the 110 meter hurdles. Where do you see yourself right now and where would you like to be a year from now as the Olympic Games approach?
I see myself as one of the top hurdlers the United State for now
and a year from now I think I'll be running for Nike or someone
like that. As far as the Olympic Games, hopefully I'll be healthy
and I'll still be one of the best hurdlers the world as they roll
around.
