After a prolonged search, NYSPHSAA has selected Webster Schroeder to host the 2026 Outdoor Track and Field New York State Championships.
Venues are typically selected further out, however complications arose after there were no formal bids submitted for the 2026 competition year. Bids were requested in two rounds, each time yielding no results. The Outdoor State Meet was in a transitional period, as the addition of a third classification was untested at the time of the bids. Contrary to concerns, the new format moved so efficiently, there were unplanned breaks in the schedule to slow the meet down in 2025 at Middletown, the first year under the new format.
Bids are typically proposed in three-year blocks, similar to how Queensbury is on a its' second year of a three year rotation at Queensbury High School, while Indoor Track continues to be held at Ocean Breeze.
The addition of Webster Schroeder completes the three-year cycle for Outdoor Track, with Cicero-North Syracuse hosting in 2027, and Icahn Stadium hosting in 2028. Both facilities were unavailable for the 2026 Season. CNS is undergoing significant construction to add a new Pool Facility just outside the Track, while Icahn Stadium will be dealing with an influx of traffic this Summer due to the neighboring FIFA World Cup matches.
Webster Schroeder is located 20 minutes Northeast of Rochester, currently located in Section 5. The school has committed to adding a second throwing circle, as well as bringing in mobile viewing stands to accommodate the increased attendance.
