Girls Class A Preview

Class A is the largest schools in New York State, and as such can provide some of the best competition both Regionally, and Nationally. All Nike Cross Nationals, sans two years, have been won by teams from this Class. Once again, we can see many names and faces that will litter the National Rankings for the months to come. Saratoga stands out as the reigning National Champions, along with having three individuals ranked in the States Top 10. Zariel Macchia is the third top underclassmen from the Foot Locker National Championships, and comes in as the top returner at the State Level too. Lillie Bogdan won the Nike Regional last year, and Izzie Sullivan won the Class A State Title way back in 2021.
Of course, there are always new names to be on the lookout for, as female athletes tend to make big leaps from year to year. Freshman Tsadia Bercuvitz and sophomore Kyleen Brady both made big strides in 2022, and could be ready to make a big leap. Noel Barlette, Mia Paolino, and Lexi Cole all had breakout seasons in the Steeple last spring, a good indicator of Cross talent. And then there are the runners who will be hitting varsity for the first time ever, who's names are just waiting to be announced. The thrill of a new season, and new opportunities, is upon us.
