Boys Sprints
100m - The matchup we never got indoors! State Record Holder Jadon Spain (James I O'Neill) went on a tear in the latter half of the Season over 55m, but for the opening weeks, the top returner ruled the rankings. Josiah Brown (Holy Trinity) is NY's top Football Recruit as a Junior, and clocked a 6.41 in December that would stand up as NY #2 through the end of the Season. Sadly, that was also his last race of the Season, and we never saw him progress like Spain. Now it's the 100m, and the duo are ready to battle.
200m - Two more State Champs are ready to go at it, Marcus Nahim (Iona Prep) anchored the 4x200m to Gold, while Jaylin Santiago (Fordham Prep) took Individual glory over 300m. They're both here, plus the 100m contenders, as Brown and Spain are doing the double. NY #2 Indoors over 200m, Jose Davis Whittaker (York PSAL) also makes an appearance.
400m - NY #1 and 600m Indoor State Champ Wesley Noble (Bishop Loughlin) is ready to put on a show, and challenge the meet record. He's already ran 47.59, and the weather is looking to cooperate for something fast here too. Junior Grant (Springfield Gardens) and David Davitt (Stepinac) are both on his heels at 48flat.
110HH - State Champion Jordon Quinn (Freeport) is ready to up the distance to the full 11o's, while he'll be challenged by the PA's Anthony Collins (Truman), and a pair from Pottsgrove, PA.
400H - Top returner Jason Colindres (Shenendehowa) will make his Invitational debut, one year after a mad dash to the finish at States.
Boys Distance
Steeple - The biggest race of the day for the distances comes from Out of State, as four-flat miler Devan Kipyego (St. Raphael, RI) is looking to get another crack at the event, after winning the National Title in 2022 at a blistering 5:48.15. The senior is the top seed by quite a bit, but may have company in the opening laps by XC stud Aidan Brancaccio (Saint Anthony's).
800m - It's time for the State Leader to dip under 1:55. Travis Wolfe-Thompson (Brooklyn Tech) did that Indoors, and is planning to go faster out. Pedro Mayol (St. Raphael, RI) has also done the same, with similar goals in mind.
Mile - Breakout star Joseph Perazzo (Susan Wagner) is fresh off his first foray under 9mins in the 2Mile at Arcadia. Now, it's back down to the mile, to utilize that new found strength. He has a 4:14 personal best from Indoors, but will be looking to drop that down. It won't come easy, however, as Matthew Schutzbank (Nyack) is coming off a brand new PR of 4:16 from last week's Suffern Mountie Madness. Those fresh legs are ready to challenge for the win. Sean Reidy (Fordham Prep) is also in the mix, with his 4:17 over 1600m at the Indoor State Meet.
3200m - This race is expected to be fast as well. Shane Murphy (Hunter College HS) took second at the Indoor State Meet, and leads the field at 9:03.30. He'll face off against the 1600m Indoor State Champ Logan Schaeffler (Calhoun), who was the surprise victor of that same meet. Schutzbank will be here from the mile, as will Mason Talarico (Saratoga), an NXN-finalist this year.
Boys Field
Vertical Jumps - Indoor State Champ Paul Park (Manhasset) is back from injury, and ready to take on the field in both the Long and Triple Jump. Jurrel Hall (West Hempstead) has a 47-3 jump from Indoor Nationals that could look to prevent the double from Paul.
Horizontal Jumps - Nate Alvarez (Stepinac) has already hit 6-7 this Season, which matches the State Title winning jump indoors. He's facing off against CT's Ja'mari Manson, who comes in at 6-6. Over in the vault, Matthew Lourenco (Saint Anthony's) is looking to follow in his brothers footsteps, and take home the title over 15-feet. Freshman Luke Beattie (Warwick) has the power to upset though.
Throws - National Leader Christian Toro (Lincoln, RI) is looking to increase that Hammer Throw of 226, while Weight Throw medalist Parker Kim (Syosset) has the potential to dip deep in the 200's as well. Four athletes are seeded over 50-feet in the shot, and many come right back in the discus as well.
Boys Relays
4x100m - Indoor State Champs Iona Preparatory have already been putting on a show here, with a State Leading time of 42.01, and it's about time to dip under. Pottsgrove, PA will be looking to prevent that, but it's a hard act to follow.
4x400m - PA's Harry S Truman have dipped under 4:20 Indoors. Perennial favorites Newburgh lead the field for NY, as Loughlin has opted for the more individual events.
4x800m - Fordham Prep has dipped under 8mins Indoors, and brings that team back to lead the field here.
4xMile - This could be the most competitive relay, as both Saratoga and Hunter College have very solid teams here.
Shuttle Hurdle - Fordham Prep took home hardware in this event Indoors, and is looking to do the same here.
