Six Events To Watch At The Ocean Breeze Freedom Games

Girls Mid-Distance

What: Girls 1000m

When: 2:15pm

Why: We've got three girls under 3mins, a Foot Locker Finalist, and an NXN Regional Champ.

Long Island is well represented in the field, taking up the top 3 slots. Julia Schriefer (Wheatley) got out to an early start this year, with her 2:56.30 at the first meet of the year. That was back on Dec 3rd, and the mark still stands as NY #4, with plenty of room to grow. Allison Reid (Northport) has been busy more recently, clocking 2:59.82 at the Coach Saint Invitational. And on this track just a few weeks back, Zariel Macchia (William Floyd) threw down an uncontested 2:57.30 for NY #5.

The outside threat comes from Anna Macdonald (Germantown Friends, PA), who carries a 2:18 best for 800m from last Spring. Also a 5min miler, Macdonald won the Girls Champ Division at NXN-NE, and is looking to run well in the off-distance.
