2021 NYSPHSAA Boys State Championship Meet Preview

Boys Class B - Individuals

What The Numbers Say:

Sam Lawler won the merge in 2019 out of the Class B race,  but we can't remember the last time the gap was this definitive for the lower classes against the merge. Gitch Hayes is putting together a fantastic season, not afraid to mix it up with some of the best in the country. He was the top runners at Pre-States, before clocking Top 15 All-Time marks at Ocean State and Manhattan. Hayes was last seen in Class C at an XC State Meet, but the bump up hasn't fazed the Senior.

Gavin Ehlers was 20 seconds back off Hayes at Manhattan, which is not an insurmountable gap if conditions get wet and muddy. He's got the team scoring to concentrate on, so not too many risks can be taken, but his teammate will make for good company at the front.

What Can Change:

Quick History:
LaSalle has only had one prior qualifier; Gitch Hayes in 2019
Westhampton Beach won the Individual State Title in 1989
Monticello's highest finish was a 2nd place in 2007
