Eight New Names To Know From Spring Track 2021

Boys #1 - Carter Cukerstein (Shenendehowa)

Grade: Junior

Highlight Performance: 21.92 FAT for NY #1 in the 200m

Pre-Covid - Cukerstein is a football player with some serious speed, but had lost the biggest transition year for male athletes. As a sophomore, he was respectable in the 55m distance, his main event. He whittled his best down to 6.65 at the New Balance Games, but was more regularly in the 6.8's. He had run briefly as a freshman, with only one Indoor mark and one Outdoor mark of note, and only run further than 55m once as a Sophomore.

Now - There has been a big jump in performance in the early season. Without wind-gauges, he still managed to drop down his 100m time to 10.86, with three marks hovering right about the 11-second boundary. However, it was jump up to the double distance that saw the biggest breakthrough. After a dual meet run of 22.09 FAT, he clocked a State Leading 21.92 on May 11th, which still stands as the FAT State Leader. With an expectation to run into the Summer Club Season, we could see big things in 2021, but it's next year we have our eye on. We could see those marks drop even further, including the Indoor 300m.
