State of the Action: This may very well be the most competitive event of the entire meet. There are seven girls at 38-11.75 or better this season, with six of them entered here. At the top, by a lot, is State Record Holder Alissa Braxton (Commack). The last time she was here, she cleared 41-9.75, and has since cleared 40-ft twice more. If she performs under pressure, the title is hers to lose. But Dieusi Armand (Westbury) jumped 39-11.75 at the Section 8 Qualifier, and that's too close to call this a blowout. Defending State Champ Nadia Saunders (North Rockland) is also entered here, and more dangerous than ever, at 39-3.5. | |||||
