The Seven Biggest Stories To Come Out Of New York Sectional Weekend

7. Who Is Parker Stokes

It was the question many probably had after seeing the Section 4 results. And for good reason. But for those who know Maine-Endwell, it should be no surprise. As they are wont to do, Endwell stayed quiet all season, racing only local efforts. Stokes won every race in the process, his only loss a runner-up finish at STAC. The schedule is very similar to that of alumni Dan Schaffer, who won only local invites his senior year of outdoor track, before coming to the state meet, and nabbing the overall Mile title, and a bronze in the 3200m.

Parker Stokes is on that same trajectory. With his run on the Chenango Valley State Park Course, his time of 15:44.0 is now No. 13 all-time on the course, in much rougher conditions than the state meet last year.  It elicited a speed rating of 192.33, currently the best rating for a New Yorker, and the 10th-highest for any male in the country. It's setting up a great Class B battle next week.
