Hastings was happy with her performance.
"I felt very good about my race. My last few races have been shaky so we made some adjustments the last couple weeks in my training. I am really out here kind of testing things out at the same time so for me to run and feel the way I felt today I am very confident going into the semifinals."
Holy Trinity HS graduate Shana Cox ran 51.69 to place 3rd in the same heat as Hastings and has the 10th fastest time heading into the semis.
The semifinals are scheduled for 7:10pm Monday, June 30th.

Hurtault was an All American at Columbia and won the 400m at the Ivy League Championships 7 times in his career.
Even if Hurtault doesn't make the US team, he can compete in the Olympic Games for The Commonwealth of Dominica. Dominica does not have trials for its Olympic team. So Hurtualt would have to run 45.6 seconds to compete for Dominica. He has already broken 46 seconds this season.
