BCF Tri-Meet @ SUNY Fredonia
December 20,2014
What do you enjoy about your event?
I enjoy pole-vaulting for the feeling of flying through the air. Nothing is as exhilarating, yet difficult as it is.
What has been the highlight in your running/throwing/jumping career thus far?
Getting my PR at 11’ 6”
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you while competing?
I was vaulting and when I was, I went deep into the back of
the pit. I landed on my back and rolled backwards…off the mats. The two
girls helping with the standards were dying laughing when I popped back
up.
What thoughts run through your head while competing?
I always focus on pressing, swinging and reaching as high as I
can with my toes. I repeat swing and reach over and over in my head
before and during the vault.
What other sports do you enjoy?
Snowboarding, cross country, mountain biking
What is your favorite food?
Buffalo Chicken Wing soup from Danny’s South.
What is one of your favorite movies?
"Sherlock Holmes"
What would be your ideal vacation?
An adventure around the world. South America, Europe,
Asia…I want to see it all. Not just the beautiful atypical tourist
side, but the poor parts, and the parts that most people don’t know
about.
Who is your role model and why?
For pole-vaulting my role model is a guy who graduated a few
years before I got to high school. He was a 13’ vaulter, and has become a
good friend and mentor for me over the years. I wouldn’t be where I am
today without him.
What do you do to relax?
I like to listen to Pandora. Music really helps me to relax.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
I’m not entirely sure, but I hope I have a family and kids and a job as a biomedical engineer.
