Breakdown
Defending State Champ Megan Reilly saw herself in a new position. Despite the race pedigree, Reilly did not find herself the favorite. That didn't mean the target wasn't still there. Last year, she had her best performance of the season on the line of the state meet, where it matters most. 2013 proved to be no different, as the sophomore flew on the flats to win the title. Not only that, but her time took down the course record, previously held by 05' teammate Aislinn Ryan, who served as a three time Foot Locker Finalist, as well as the individual Foot Locker Champion. The connections don't end there, as Ryan acted as Reilly's first modified XC Coach back when Reilly was running in 7th grade. Behind Reilly, fellow 2012 Foot Locker Finalist Katie Lembo pushed the pace through the line.
Team Champs
Fayetteville-Manlius provided a story in a score, as their 31 point victory mirrored exactly there boys performance of the day. Likewise, it was Saratoga 30 points back that proved to be the biggest challengers. Teams that are regularly ranked #1 and #2 in the nation play out the battles year after year, and 2013 proved to be no different.

Breakdown
Freshmen always seem to have an impact on the state meet landscape, and Jessica Lawson had been proving all season that she would have just that impact. Lawson grew up watching the likes of PA's Kennedy Jensen, and emulating her style, went out strong. Holding her pace through the back woods, Lawson gave an all out sprint to her first state title. Behind her, Sophia Tasselmyer and Kelly Hayes vied for the line, with the Section 6 sophomore grabbing the edge.
Team Champs
While we did predict that Pearl River and East Aurora would tie at the state meet, with PR getting the edge, we couldn't predict how well the home team would perform. With the crowd to push them, the girls of Queensbury took home the title with a strong performance from each of their top 5. Coincidentally, the last time the State meet was held at Queensbury in 05, the home team boys were the ones to grab a state title. The girls completed the set yesterday.

Breakdown
Seeds have nothing to do with it. Coming into the race, Julia Armstrong was seeded 14th. In what would be a season best performance by far, Armstrong challenged the leaders at every turn, and made the race her own. Vying in the back woods with Neal, the pair stuck close for a majority of the race. It was only out of the woods where the wheels came off, and Armstrong flew to a senior year state title.
Team Champs
Bronxville took home the race, as expected, but the storylines run deeper here. With it's 6th straight title in as many years, and a total of twelve altogether, they increase their lead in NYS history. Also, two individuals, Campbell and Hoffer, become the first athletes in any sport in NYS History, to leave high school as 5-time state champions.

Hope Pietrocarlo has been steadily improving throughout the season. Seeded second entering the race, the sophomore from Maple Grove pushed a pace that separated herself from the crowd. Maintaining that lead gave her the largest margin of victory of the day.

Tully has been consistently impressive all season. At the Queensbury Invite, they put the state on watch. At Sectionals, they became the title threats. On Saturday, the threat became real, as the girls of Tully took home their first state title.
