Dear Loyal Viewers of ArmoryTrack.com,
Sixteen years ago this site was created by founding webmaster George Febles of Fordham Prep and his students. Except for modest expenses, they were all volunteers. Their dedication was exceptional and set the foundation for what ArmoryTrack.com is today. Several years ago, George passed the baton to Tim Fulton, who has guided the site to where we now have 1.6 million page views monthly and are part of the national MileSplit Network that records over 15 million page views monthly. Astride this growth has come the necessary increase in paid staff, production crews, writers, photographers, editing and financial oversight. At present there are over ten people at the Armory working together in many cases seven days a week to support what you can view on virtually a 24 hour basis.
This year we have added the Armory web cam, live web casting coverage of important meets and a seasoned Olympic television producer/director Steve Ulrich. We have plans to continue to improve the site, to reach out to all regions of the state and to listen carefully to the needs and expectations of our loyal track fans and viewers.
Over nearly two decades ArmoryTrack.com has been a free service to the track community. The present economic climate and our desire to maintain the best possible coverage for you necessitated a decision to ask for your financial support. Beginning this Friday, February 5th, ArmoryTrack.com will become, for some of its content, a subscription site.
Essential results, complete rankings, season schedules, important messages, photo galleries and meet coverage articles will not be affected and will continue to be free to all. The only areas of the site that will require a subscription for now will be archived video.
We are offering two subscription options:
1) A $5.00 / one week pass gives you access to all archived video webcasts, which will include this upcoming weekend’s New Balance Collegiate Invitational for both days.
2) A $36.00 / one year subscription, paid in full when you sign up, gives you access to all archived video webcasts, full athlete rankings and total access to the entire MileSplit.us network. The cost to viewers factors out to be three dollars per month, which I think you will agree is a modest request.
We need now to emphasize that a certain amount of positive change is necessary for us to lay the foundation for the future success and survival of what we feel has been a major contribution to the sport. I ask sincerely for your continuing support and understanding.
