#6 - Boys 200m
When: Friday, May 11th @ 7:05pm
Why: This is essentially a "who's-who" of downstate sprinting, all converging on a single race, while some out-of-staters may get caught in the crossfire. 55m State Record Holder Carlon Hosten (Taft) leads the field, while up-and-comer Tahje Flemmings (Banneker) is right on his tail, taking home Class State Records as he continues through HS. Hosten has gone 21.20, which is not light work to chase, while Flemmings carries a 21.72, chasing the Soph State Record of 21.25. Current 55m Soph State Record Holder Mike Miller Jr (Christopher Columbus) is also here at 21.79, alongside teammate Anthony Brodie at 21.60. Also entered is D' Andre Barriffe (Bishop Loughlin), who took home the State Title last year in 21.71. Rounding out the main players is Record Holding Hurdler Tai Brown (Midwood), who's gone 22.39, but indicated he's ready for a big drop.
NYC is set to rule the sprint, leaving little room for strong athletes like Onye Ohia-Enyia (Hackley), who is top seed in the 400m, but still carries a 21.95 here.
