Reviewing the States A runners who finished 6th through 11th, Rome's Davone Hernandez is about to pass Fayetteville-Manlius's Max Perry, Mamaroneck's Sam Morton at right motors in for 8th, the first non-senior Silas Derfel of Ithaca is at left, Warwick Valley's Behailu Bekele-Arcuri heads for 10th, and Liverpool's Josh Hickmott will give the Warriors a third top-11 place.
Section by Section Class A Overview
SectionTop Teams Notes
1Arlington, Suffern, Carmel, Scarsdale, Fox Lane, North RocklandSince no S1-A team can crack 147 TR in the preseason team averages, there's a big group of contenders. The top nine guys at Sectionals graduated, and maybe now reigning champ Arlington and Suffern are the strongest.
2Niskayuna, Shenendehowa, Bethlehem, Saratoga, Guilderland, ColonieNiskayuna enters the season with the highest ratings, but Shen, Bethlehem, and reigning champ Saratoga are very close behind and will see to it that this is the usual S2-A dogfight.
3Fayetteville-Manlius, Baldwinsville, Cicero-North Syracuse, Liverpool, West Genesee,FM and Baldwinsville enter the season fairly evenly matched with CNS and Liverpool sitting more than 10 TR points back in a group that has sent two teams to NXN Nationals for four straight years.
4Corning, Ithaca, Horseheads

Corning appears to be in control of the S4-A after Ithaca graduated four of its top 5.

5Fairport, Churchville-Chili, Penfield, Canandaigua, IrondequoitFairport and Churchville-Chili have nearly everyone back and will start the season with a gap over reigning champ Penfield.
6Williamsville North, Frontier,  Clarence, LockportWilliamsville North has its top 5 back to get the edge on reigning champ Frontier and Clarence.

8Manhasset, Syosset, East Meadow, Mepham, Port WashingtonManhasset's move up to Class A actually makes them a small favorite over reigning S8-A champ Syosset..
9Warwick Valley, Monroe-Woodbury, FD Roosevelt, Minisink ValleyWarwick Valley's edge over a balanced Monroe-Woodbury is very slim as the Wildcats shoot for a 20th straight at Sectionals.
10No representatives
11Smithtown, Northport, Ward Melville, Commack, Sachem NorthReigning champ Smithtown has enough top runners back to hold a slight edge over Northport and Ward Melville.
