| So a team finished 8th in States B, gets bumped up to Class A, has a top runner who is listed in many of the results as a senior in 2016, and is still rated ahead of the States 2nd place A team from last year. How does this happen? Well first, Manhasset just did not have a good States meet but that's not uncommon, the top 6 runners from last year are probably back, and the top runner's Twitter feed indicates that he's still around. So Manhasset has moved up to Class A, it has a veteran team that hopefully learned something from States 2016, and the senior trio of Caggiano, Watson and Cyprus should be able to compete well enough against Syosset in S8-A to get back to States in a new class. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The Wildcats ran to a great 2nd place result at States and had two underclassmen earn States medals. With Bekele-Arcuri and Gardiner returning, Warwick Valley would be well set to win its 20th Sectionals title in a row except for the fact that the 3-7 guys at States all graduated. 2017 promises to be an interesting year for the Wildcats as last year's JV squad moves up to fill in the spots behind the state's top rated duo and tries to fight off a Monroe-Woodbury squad that has a solid balanced pack. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
