State of the Action: It seems like the story hasn't changed for the past three years. Both Lanae-Tava Thomas and Halle Hazzard are under the 7sec barrier in the 55m. Thomas is the two-time defending State Champion, but has been closely challenged by Hazzard all season long. Thomas lost some time this Indoor season with a tweaked hamstring in December. However, she has made a full recovery, hitting PR's in both the 55m and Long Jump. Hazzard is fast approaching 6.9secs, and on any given day, could be the State Champion. Thomas is halfway towards a four year reign of the event, and it would appear as if Hazzard, a senior, is the only thing in the way of that streak.
